From the laboratory to the international market: the achievements of university-enterprise cooperation benefit countries along the Belt and Road Initiative.

    On the afternoon of January 23, 2026, Wei Yundong, Chairman of Zhengzhou Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine Import and Export Trade Co., Ltd., led a team to visit the School of Bioengineering at Henan University of Technology for inspection and exchange. Wei Hongwei, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Bioengineering, Professor Liu Laiting, former Vice Dean of the International Education College, and other faculty representatives participated in the discussion.

    At the symposium, Secretary Wei Hongwei first extended a warm welcome to Chairman Wei Yundong and his delegation, and highly praised the long-standing and in-depth cooperation between the two sides in the fields of industry, academia, and research. Secretary Wei pointed out that the previous project collaborations have yielded remarkable results, laying a solid foundation for the continued deepening of cooperation between the two parties.

    Chairman Wei Yundong expressed his sincere gratitude for the technical support and project collaboration provided by the School of Bioengineering. He specifically mentioned that the research achievements resulting from the collaboration with the school have been successfully commercialized, with the related products mainly sold to countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative. Market feedback indicates that the products have shown significant application effects, effectively helping to improve aquaculture technology in regions such as Africa, demonstrating excellent social benefits and market prospects.

     Subsequently, project leader Associate Professor Zhang Yong gave a presentation on the collaborative project between the two parties, "Development and Application of Fermented Traditional Chinese Medicine Premixes." He provided a detailed overview of the research and development process, key technological achievements, and future research directions, highlighting the innovative value and application potential of the project.

     At the end of the meeting, Secretary Wei Hongwei, on behalf of the college, presented Zhengzhou Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine Import and Export Trade Co., Ltd. with a plaque designating it as a "University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base." Both sides unanimously expressed their intention to take this award as an opportunity to further expand areas of cooperation, deepen the integration of industry, academia, and research, and jointly promote the coordinated development of talent cultivation and technological innovation.
